Have you been climbing for a little while but struggle to make consistent gains in your sessions? Perhaps you've hit a wall with your grades and can't seem to push through, or just feel that you'd like to tighten up on your climbing skills. If any of these are true for you then our Bouldering Basics 2 course is where you need to be!
What you will learn
Week 1 - Learning Climbing Efficiency
Have you ever looked at another climber and thought: "Wow, they make it look so easy!"... Well, the reason for this isn't usually just because their a stronger climber but more likely because they have honed their technique to be as efficient as possible - from footwork, body positioning, contact strength, movement and even route reading. Efficiency is the key!
Week 2 - Balance Explored
How should your base of support change between different wall angles? When should you use an inside flagging position vs an outside flagging position? Why is resting on the route an important consideration for climbing? These and more questions answered on this session.
Week 3 - Tips & Tricks
In this session we take a look at how climbing equipment can be used to our advantage (chalk, tape, brushes, etc.). We also get stuck into some more advanced climbing techniques such as undercuts and heel hooks, and how we can deploy them as secret weapons in our climbing arsenal. Finally, we discuss route reading - why it is often overlooked and how it can significantly improve our climbing when performed correctly.
Week 4 - Harnessing Momentum
Our final week explores the world of momentum and how we can use our own bodies to generate power and reach whilst maintaining overall efficiency. In this session we look at dynamic movement vs static movement, and deadpointing amongst other things.
Please note that this course is strictly for climbers aged 18 years old and over and ideally suited to those who have some climbing experience or attended our Bouldering Basics 1 course.
